The Tours
Generally, excursions start and end at Ruark's dock, but arrangements can be made for pick-ups at the dock of your choice, water depth permitting. Allow 1.5 to 2.5 hrs. per trip. Longer tours are easily arranged.
- Harbor Tours
- Explore Fishing Bay, picturesque Gwynn Island, or Jackson Creek. See transient cruisers from ports around the U.S. and even the the world.
- Moon Rises out of the Chesapeake Bay
- This is best one or two days on either side if the full moon. With good weather conditions, it will appear as a large orange ball rising out of the Bay's horizon to the east; a truly unforgettable sight.
- Star Watching
- It's sometimes astounding what you can see in the night sky once you get away from the light pollution of cities. This is best without the light of the Moon, beginning 5-6 days after the full moon for an evening cruise.
- Dawn on the Chesapeake
- A light show you will remember and it's worth getting up early. Coffee provided.
- Fall Foliage Tours
- There's nothing like cool, crisp fall weather and brilliant, blazing autumn colors along 10 miles of the Piankatank River- nature in all her seasonal glory!
- A Lunch or Dinner Cruise
- Julia Temple Lee, David's bride, received a degree from Johnson and Wales and has done post graduate work at Culinary Institute of America. Let her prepare a sumptuous treat, from local seafood or a host of other seasonal favorites. Please try to provide at least 24 hours notice.)
- Water Tour of Historic Homes
- See Woodstock, circa 1840; Edentide, circa 1873; Wilton, circa 1763; Woodport, circa 1833; and other historic homes on the area's rivers. Learn obscure facts and hear fascinating tales of a bygone era as you glide past these beautiful mansions and points of interest, (1/2 day is best, but less time can be arranged).
